Sandra Lee is tackling her new year’s resolution head-on.
The TV chef and Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s ex-girlfriend announced she began a cleanse in late December after gaining 30 pounds in the last year.
“With Christmas in a bag in my backseat today really starts the first day of the working New Year. So today I’m going to start a cleanse,” Lee, 54, posted alongside an Instagram selfie on Monday.
“My sister Kimber does them all the time. Normally loses up to 10 pounds on a seven day cleanse (we all know the first five as water),” she continued.
Lee added how 2020 “was not a great health year for anyone,” sans her “health hero,” Rebel Wilson, who kicked off a “year of health” journey last January.
“Personally over the last year I gained 30 pounds and weighed in at 170 two days before Christmas—None of my clothes fit and worse i feel terrible,” Lee explained. “I feel my very best at 140 pounds-I’m 5’9” that’s a good weight for me.”
Lee said she kick-started her new regime on Christmas Day, which includes “very very few carbs,” and no red meat or alcohol.
“Lots of vegetables and berries, banana, watermelon, avocado which I actually eat for dinner, fermented food think sauerkraut (with Dijon mustard) and I just love pickles, definitely eggs, soups with low sodium broth‘s,” she detailed. “Coffee, tea (to get back to me-I need my caffeine) oh and lots of water ……….A LOT!”
Lee said her new regimen is working, revealing she’s lost 10 pounds since Dec. 25. Lee has also been taking a Vitamin C energy booster, in addition to other vitamins she has been consuming since March.
“My energy isn’t super awesome though (1250 calories a day is tough-I LIKE TO EAT!),” Lee added. “Tomorrow or the next day I’m going to go get a vitamin IV and hope that that helps a little bit.”
In December, Lee said she cried “all the way” from New York to California after packing up the former couple’s Lily Pond residence.
“I think I have just been stuffing it for so long that I am done. It’s all been too much-the last 6 years have just been too much..please God let 2021 be good for us all..,” she shared at the time.
Early on in the pandemic, Lee said in a New York Times profile she would wake up and watch Cuomo’s daily press briefings. “He’s still my guy,” she said, adding, “Neither one of us, well, as far as I know, has had a date.”
