On behalf of our support group I would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Griffith Leagues Club and the Griffith Ex-Servicemen’s Club for their financial grants given to our group through the club grants. These grants will assist us in continuing to spread the word about prostate cancer and the importance of men over 50 years of age or if there has been any history in the family of this disease for men to get a basic test from 40 years of age or younger. Basically it means to request your doctor for the basic test and in doing so will detect if there is any prostate cancer present. The figures presently show that approx 3,500 men will die this year from this disease with over 20,000 men being diagnosed. These figures could easily be reduced if the basic test had been carried out. As this area has one of the highest incidences of prostate cancer in the state and from the generosity of the grants given by both the local clubs mentioned enables our group to continue to promote prostate cancer awareness. Our group meets on the third Thursday each month at the Griffith South-Side Leagues-Club commencing at 7pm. Congratulations to Raina Savage and her staff for recognising Sunshine Super Girl’s potential, striving against the odds to secure the World Premiere and all the hard work that went into promoting it and staging it in our sports stadium. The unique setting was perfect and the indigenous cast was outstanding. In particular Luke Carroll’s transition from Larry to Vic Edwards to Ted Tinling was remarkable. In the marquee before the performance there were many unfamiliar faces and a couple I spoke to were from Sydney and Nowra, possibly reflecting the eye-catching ads in publications like The Sydney Morning Herald. PRAISE FOR WORLD PREMIERE

Congratulations to Raina Savage and her staff for recognising Sunshine Super Girl’s potential, striving against the odds to secure the World Premiere and all the hard work that went into promoting it and staging it in our sports stadium.
