It seems that nearly every company has turned to making masks in 2020, including Apple. Although they’re better known for their phones and computers, the tech giant started making some impressive face coverings for their in-store employees, as YouTuber Lewis George Hilsenteger of Unbox Therapy revealed in a new video.
“This has to be one of the most unusual Apple unboxing videos I’ve ever done,” says Hilsenteger.
In true Apple form, the masks come sealed in the company’s white, minimalist packaging. Each box contains five reusable coverings and includes small clips that help you better secure the masks behind your ears. The masks should be washed after eight hours of usage and can be worn five times before being discarded.
According to Hilsenteger, Apple claims its mask is superior to standard surgical masks. But what does he think?
“It looks cool that’s for sure,” says Hilsenteger.
He notes that the mask is more structured than the classic disposable surgical mask, thanks in part to the three-piece design.

“It feels very secure. I definitely feel more sealed off than a standard surgical mask.” he says.
Hilsenteger also appreciates that the masks feel sturdy compared to surgical masks, which have strings that easily break.
Unfortunately, Apple fans cannot purchase the coverings, since they’re only made for employees. But there are plenty of other masks available. Our favorites include the lightweight Uniqlo AIRism Mask and Under Armour SportsMask. Or, check out one of the many options that give back to nonprofit charities through a portion of sales.
